Are you giving your card number to someone??
Sunday afternoon, and after a good lunch with one of my friend Suraj, I found that I am running out of cash. Glad that I was "some what" near to one of the ATM's of my bank.
I entered the ATM "dodging" the so called marketing executives collected near the ATM gates, asking just for you signature and some address proof so that they can fill your Credit Card request form.
Well, I may say its a good marketing move. you just land up on any ATM and your potential targets will automatically come to you.
In ATM booth, as usual one of the terminal was out-of-order and then theres a small queue on the other. Felt lucky when I saw myself on 2nd in the queue. :) . Next to me was a girl whom I noticed while coming towards the ATM.
While we are waiting for our turn, the "current users" were struggling with something on the terminal. Then this person - a representative of some bank(?) - approached the girl standing next to me. He might have "dis-qualified" me for his "survey" cause I usually do not pay attention to any of such "representetives". He got the girl for filling some kind of form, as per he (and I later asked that girl) a "survey form" on behalf of the bank.
I was simply surprised to see that, the girl "vageshwari" (thanks to my super-sonic ears) was providing him all the details, viz name, age, phone number, address (no problem till here), but then - "her card/account number??!!" Is it a wise thing to tell "anybody", i mean JUST ANYBODY?? Or Is it legal to ask someone his/her account number or card number on the name of some "survey"??
Nethier he produced any ID card or such, nor she (well.. least expected) asked him to show some kind of ID card.
May by the "surveyer" is a genuine one, but, who knows??
On the first hand, I think the bank officials should make some kind of check that no one can do such kind of "marketing" or "business" inside the ATM centre. Usually I've seen that these guys are always allowed to get in the ATM centers where they hunt for their potential (soft) customers. The security should be tightened.
Make sense??
